Sony PSP is about to be launched with a new white color theme. For such a launch you need an advertizing campaign. TO do the launch in the Netherlands Sony chose to contact a company known for its controversial advertisements and this resulted in a lot of publicity. Perhaps not an extremely positive such though as the picture illustrates a white woman dressed in white holding down a black woman dressed in black. The Netherlands has had some trouble with racism before so this clearly a provocation from the agency, but the question is if Sony gains much positive publicity from it.
Sony has replied to the ongoing debate with that over hundreds of pictures was created for the new campaign and that it wants to highlight the how white the new console is and how black the old one is. Sony finally decided to pull the pictures from the website after the debate about racism started.

The large picture is still up where it was when the picture was taken and even if this is a doubtful advertizing the connection to a video game console isn’t exactly crystal clear. Other countries and organizations have questioned Sony’s advertisement and we will most likely not see this campaign reach outside of the Netherlands.
