Sparkle Calibre P880+ OC Edition is the second series of G80-based graphics card to be shipped from factory with overclocked settings. XFX presented its XX series already last year and now it seems that NVIDIA has decided to further loosen the grip of th its beloved G80 architecture. This is something Sparkle has taken advantage of with its Calibre P880+ OC Edition as it has certainly not held back. It has namely not only overclocked its GeForce 8800GTX/GTS cards of the series but also equipped them TEC air coolers which is more or less identical to the one GeCube used with its FZ Cool Radeon 1950Pro.

Sparkle has announced that thanks to the more efficient cooler it has managed to push the frequencies of NVIDIA’s G80 architecture more than a few MHz. The GeForce 8800 GTX model is hipped with frequencies at 630MHz/1960MHz, which is considerably higher than the reference at 575MHz/1800MHz, although XFX XXX 8800 is actually slightly higher at 630MHz/2000MHz.

The GeForce 8800 GTS model is delivered with frequencies at 560MHz/1720MHz, which is also considerably higher than the 500MHz/1600MHz NVIDIA reference. XFX’ card has a slightly lower GPU frequency but a higher memory frequency, 550MHz/1800MHz.

Sparkle Calibre P880+ OC Edition is hardly the last series of overclocked G80 cards we will see and we’re really looking forward to what the other graphics card manufacturers have to offer. There is no information regarding the price of Sparkle’s overclocked cards, but you can count on that they will be a few dollars more expensive, while we are certain the TEC coolers adds a few more.
