We’ve been reporting about how Sun and Google was about to hold a press conference yesterday and that we would most likely see cooperation revolving around Sun’s OpenOffice. As the conference now is over we can tell you that the focus was mainly on spreading Sun’s Java to more people rather than offering an online based Office-suite, even if OpenOffice is a part of the cooperation. The reason for Sun to contact Google is simply that Microsoft has stopped to offer Java with its operating systems, which actually is necessary to run some programs and many websites at all.
