Performance database HWbot had the following to say on Hicookie’s result;
“We temporarily removed the result because there seems to be a loop time oddity. We’re still looking into the issue as we speak and if there’s any conclusion we will be updating our front page with the news.”
We have received more information on Hicookie’s result that says the result is simply impossible in Windows XP. There shouldn’t be any real problems to get below 6 seconds, but the algorithm used by SuperPi should not be able to register the time loops that appeared near the end.
Each step in SuperPi is a multiple of 1/64 second or 0.0125625 seconds. Hicookie’s doesn’t match these calculations since he used Windows XP, as Windows Vista and Windows 7 use different algorithms.
Hicookie, employed by Gigabyte, hasn’t commented on this part of the story and we will be covering the progress up ahead.
