The Tegra name appeared in the news for the first time a few days ago. The new NVIDIA family was rumored to be a new line of system-on-a-chip (SoC) modules. According to the information posted by TheInq, there will be two series of SoCs in the Tegra family, both ARM-based. Tegra APX2500 is a 144mm2 package capable of decoding 720p video streams at 14Mbps and supports OpenGL ES2.0. The APX series is designed for handhelds. Big brother CSX is targeted for the slightly larger devices and supports up to 1080p at 24FPS, comes with built-in harddrive support and consumes less than 3W under load. More information is expected to be unveiled during the upcoming Computex event in June.
