We have reported earlier on a number of articles that discusses the rumoured Cell-arcitecture that Sony, IBM and Toshiba recently announced. Among others Ars Technica’s live reports from ISSCC (International Solid State Circuits Conference) in San Francisco.
Well now another one has surfaced and this time it’s over at Real World Technologies.

This article is the most detailed we’ve seen so far of the Cell-arcitecture, alas it has tendencies to be a bit to “technical”. It contains interesting information to most people though and those who have deeper knowlede in processor arcitectures will find loads of goodies.

“In the examination of the first implementation of the CELL processor, the theme of the shift in focus from the pursuit of single threaded integer performance to the pursuit of multiply threaded, easily parallelizable multimedia-type performance is repeated throughout.”

I can almost garantue this is only the tip of the iceberg and we will see more and more article on the Cell-arcitecture as time passes by, and as an enthusiast I can’t complain.
The whole article can be found at Real World Technologies.
