A new milestone has now been achieved by the Internet; it has reached 100 million websites on the world wide web. It’s the Internet surveillance company Netcraft which has published information which says that the Internet, at the start of November, climbed above 100 million registered websites. The company says that the number of online stores and the incredibly popular blogging fad are big parts of it. At the same time, Google’s and Microsoft’s website registering has made it easier for users to register their own sites.
“Since the concept that eventually evolved to the Internet was created more than 30 years ago, and up to 2004, the amount of sites online reached 50 million. It took just two years to double that number. When Netcraft was formed in 1995, it counted a measly 18,957 websites.”
