Jobs wrote an open letter to the music industry some time ago, there he expressed his thoughts and dislike with how the music industry is handling the digital media. He thought that the industry should stop with the DRM hysteria and if they did Apple would follow. Large potions of the music industry quickly took a stance against Jobs’ suggestion and many of them have now, during a conference, made follow-up statements and wonders why Apple hasn’t taken the first step and stops locking in its customers. Even if Jobs tried to avoid this, more or less (he had a rather poor excuse), you can’t neglect the fact that many stores are using DRM that works with many players and platforms, while Apple is probably the worst of them all when it comes to DRM.
