Those who don’t like that Windows XP’s own preview program is used for many image files and wants to let another program handle these can easily turn off the program by simply removing it from the registry.
Start > Run:
regsvr32 /u shimgvw.dll
If you want to reactivate it type as follows:
regsvr32 shimgvw.dll
