Intel’s energy efficient Atom platform is usually found in small computers, but Toradex Xiilun PC is really something else at minimal 60 x 89 x 16 mm. The superslim computer builds on Intel’s Oak Trail platform and houses a passive cooled 1.6 GHz Atom CPU for the same functionality found in a regular desktop PC.
Toradex presented its creation at Embedded World 2011 and Xiilun was really something else. Despite the minimal measurements the computer also has an integrated GMA 600 GPU, up to 2GB DDR2 RAM and a bootable microSD slot.
The PC builds on the Toradex Topaz platform, a Single Board Computer (SBC), and it is the smallest of its kind with an Intel Atom E6xx CPU. It has an 1.6 GHz Intel Atom E680 CPU consuming 3.9 watt and full x86 functionality without any fans.
Despite the circuit board is only 55 x 84 x 12.7 mm xiilun comes with four USB 2.0 ports and HDMI output. The integrated graphics GMA 600 will operate at 400 MHz and support resolutions up to 1920 x 1080 pixels.
