We recently reported on how SanDisk launched a new SD memory with respectable transfer rates, 30MB/s. It was almost on par with the faster CompactFlash memory cards, which otherwise hold the transfer rate as trump. Transcend has moved the bar considerably with a new series of CF memory with 600x transfer rate. In layman terms it means a read and write speed of around 90MB/s. Transcend says it can do 92MB/s read speed and almost as impressive 87MB/s write speed.
Digital DSLR camera pictures with resolutions up to 20Megapixel in raw format are big and needs to be stored quickly, therefore CompactFlash has become the most common standard among the more advanced digital cameras.
With Transcend’s new Extreme Plus 600X series there will be performance to go around. Compared to the standard speed of 300X Transcend’s new memories are twice as fast with double the transfer rates, and comes with 8GB or 16GB capacity. Prices were not revealed.
