Transcend has launched a new flagship DDR3 memory kit. The aXeRam series isn’t a very old one, but the modules presented so far by Transcend have been on par with what the established companies like OCZ, Corsair, Mushkin and the rest have in their portfolios. The latest DDR3 model from Transcend operates at 1800MHz, which is not the fastest around, but Transcend has been able to keep the timings tight (8-8-8-24) and the voltage low (1.8V) to compensate for being late to the party.
Transcend says that the memory chips have been selected with the strictest quality and performance standards and that the FBGA packaging should result in better thermal dissipation. The modules are Intel XMP (eXtreme Memory Profile) compatible, which will render a slight boost when used with an XMP motherboard thanks to the built-in optimized profiles. The modules have all been thoroughly tested before leaving the plant and are covered by a lifetime warranty. The list price is $239 (+taxes).
We have to say that we’re a bit curious to see what they will do with a bit more voltage.
