Transmeta has now filed a lawsuit against the chip giant Intel. According to Transmeta, Intel’s shipped CPU’s worth over $100 billion that uses technology patented by Transmeta. Transmeta’s mostly famous for its Crusoe CPU’s which, sadly enough, never became a hit other than in perhaps Japan. However, it made Intel aware of the mobile market. Intel produced its mobile CPU called Banias which led to Pentium M and today’s Core and Core 2 CPU’s. According to Transmeta, Intel’s copied its “enhanced Speedstep” technology from them. The Inquirer has a document where it’s explained in detail, here.
