Tulsa’s wafer caught on camera

Tulsa is the manufacturing name of Intel’s coming Xeon MP-processor which looks to be something out of the ordinary. With dual cores, 16MB L3-cache and 2 x 1MB L2 cache this is going to be one expensive CPU, but considering what systems the processor will be used with that will most likely not be a problem. Tulsa will be launched during the second half of 2006 and will be made with 65nm-technology and replace Paxville MP. At VR-Zone they’ve published a picture of a wafer with Tulsa cores, for those who aren’t familiar with the word wafer it is the silicon plate you create the mikro circuits with and is of course a key component of the process.

Considering the large number of Tulsa-cores you can fit on a wafer the value of the wafer you can see below must be pretty outrageous.
