Turion64 is AMD’s answer to Intel’s Centrino-platform. In other terms a mobile platform with both good performance and low power consumption. Turion64 is developed on the same base as its cousin Athlon 64 which of course brings both pros and cons. With a new manufacturing process, 90nm with SOI, and a new optimized core it’s with high hopes AMD sends Turion64 out on the market. At GamePC they’ve compared the new mobile processor with Intel’s very popular, and probably best performing, processor: the Pentium M. A harder competitor would be practically impossible to find for Turion64 and performance-wise it takes some sweat to keep up.
