Ubuntu has decided to change the configuration of the coming version, Feisty Fawn. For example, it will stop sending along closed drivers to the extent its possible, in the cases it has to include closed drivers it will still do so. Although, at the same time it has come to the conclusion that many open source alternatives aren’t mature enough to be included with Ubuntu. This shouldn’t be considered a drawback though, it will instead make it easier to install proprietary drivers.
There have been discussions to drop the PowerPC version of Ubuntu and now the decision has been made. It will continue releasing PowerPC versions, but with a much lower priority than before.
