A steering wheel and pedals is good and all that, but those who are truly serious about their car simulators will need more. A Recaro chair and three monitors is a step in the right direction, but the extremists might want to attach everything to four hydraulic arms and start practicing for a real F1 race. That’s what professional racing drivers do with Cruden Hexatech F1 simulator and the system is now available for the public, for only $191,000.

Cruden Hexatech F1 Racing Simulator uses three 42″ plasma screens and the simulator looks like something from Transformers or Terminator when in motion.

Except from an overflowing wallet you will need at least three meters of vertical space and a ladder to get on board this beast of a car simulator. Cruden can also build a chassis around the cockpit for an even more authentic feel.

Let’s be clear: this is not a video game linked up to a steering wheel, race seat and some fancy pedals. Our simulator and the software it uses cannot be bought in a store. This is the exact same professional equipment used by Formula One and racing drivers and engineers in other top racing series globally, to improve their racecraft and evaluate new tracks and car settings.

Now we just have to find out who prefers a car simulator to the real deal, even a Ferrari or a couple of Volvos, but we have to say that we expected a system costing near $200,000 to get rid of the black borders between the screens.
