The National Supercomputer Center at the University of Linköping, Sweden, has now decided for which supercomputer it will build and the winners were HP and Go Virtual. The new supercomputer will deliver a performance at 60 TFlops by connecting 805 HP ProLiant DL140 G3, all based on two quad-core Xeon 5345 each. The supercomputer is administrated by five ProLiant DL380 G5. All in all the server will sport a total of 14TB RAM while the communication between the servers will be handled by three Cisco SFS 7024D infiniband root switches and 68 Cisco SFS 7000D infiniband leaf switches with a total network bandwidth at 32 Tbps. The new server is estimated to be up and running November 1 and will be close to entering Top500’s top ten list with a Linpack performance estimated to 40TFlops.
