A Canadian reader sent us a tip and a link to Canadian computer hardware store NCIX.com where they have listed a Black Edition AMD Athlon 64 X2 5000+. The processor comes with an unlocked multiplier and runs at 2.6 GHz. According to the forums admin at NCIX the processor is based on the Windsor core, meaning a 90 nm manufacturing process. Not to worry though, every core for the AMD Athlon 64 X2 5000+ Black Edition is apparently handpicked and is sold without heatsink. NCIX lists the processor for $149 CAD, which the same amount in USD. Tomorrow we will now for sure.
