VIA has proudly announced that it has teamed up with Chinese company Tongfong, and launched the first ultrahin notebook with a Nano processor inside. Just like the netbook market, Intel has a firm hold of the new and popular ultrathin market through its CULV platform but VIA hopes its 1.3GHz Nano U2250 processor together with the VX800 chipset will be able to compete with Intel’s platform. With a discrete DX10.1 graphics processor, S3 Graphics Chrome 435 ULP, and 2GB RAM this 13.3″ notebook is actually quite interesting.

Tongfong S30A is the name of the computer that houses DVD burner, WiFi, HDMI output and a regular 2.5″ harddrive. The power efficient processor is fed by a 6 cell battery, but unfortunately there was no mention of battery time or alike.

We look forward to hearing more about how the VIA Nano U2250 processor stands up to competing models of Intel’s CULV platform, while at the same time we hope VIA’s thin notebooks find their way to Europe and North America.
