Monitor maker Viewsonic has announced that in 2011 it will be only be working with LED technology for its monitors, a technology that has been taking over and replacing CCFL as backlighting in many monitors and TVs.
The advantages of LED technology are mainly lower power consumption, higher contrast ratios and a more convenient format enabling much thinner designs.
“ViewSonic is leading the way towards a greener, more cost efficient future by delivering an array of green LED products for our customers to choose from.”
Viewsonic also revealed parts of its plans for the future where it mentions 3D LED monitors in the upcoming months and eventually a full transition to LED in 2011.
Hardly a surprising move since LED has become quite common today and most competing companies have been moving toward the same thing.
