Vista hurts the anti-spyware and firewall market

0

Windows Vista will be Microsoft’s most secure operating system ever and the security is something has been prioritized over pretty much everything else during the development. This is great of course to careless consumers who don’t rely on third-party software, but according to analysts Vista might be so secure that the market for anti-spyware and firewall software will more or less disappear. The market for security related proucts for Windows is a $3.6 billion market and Vista’s arrival could shrink this significantly. The antivirus market will remains intact as Microsoft has no plans for interating antivirus protection into its operating system. The increased security comes at a cost though; the usability, something we’ve already seen reactions to.
