Western Digital has rolled out its latest version of the mobile app WD Photos. The app is available to Apple iOS and Google Android, and it allows users to store photos and videos on the WD TV Live Hub for playback on the TV and backup. The app can also browse pictures on the media player.
WD has continued to develop its mobile solutions for the media player family WD TV Live and the flagship WD TV Live Hub with its 1TB integrated harddrive. By not only allowing playback of multimedia from connected devices it also allows storage of material and enables users to connect with their smartphones and tablets.
WD Photos can be installed on most Android (2.1+) and iOS (3.1+) units and be used to wirelessly store photos and videos created with the phone, locally on WD TV Live Hub. This for both playing the mateiral on a larger screen, but also backup.
WD Photos Photo Viewer App Features
Features of the WD Photos photo viewer app include:
– Pinch and zoom functionality so consumers can digitally zoom in on the displayed photo;
– Instantly post photos to Facebook;
– Create a slideshow with transitions to create digital art;
– Access previously viewed photos even when the user is offline;
– View photos all at once or filter them by folder or album;
– Search by file name, folder name, or date using the built-in search options;
– E-mail a photo to a friend;
– Assign a photo to a contact;
– Supports iPhone iOS4 so user can listen to music as they view their photos;
– Enables users to view their pictures on their iPad or Android tablet; and
– Consumers can also allow up to four smartphones or tablets access to their WD TV Live Hub media center.
WD Photos can be found on Android Market and iTunes. The only thing required is a WD TV Live Hub media player and a WD online account, which is free.
