The first draft of the new wireless network standard 802.11n appeared in January, 2006, and even if many manufacturers have already launched products based on the 802.11n protocol, its exact specifications have not been set. Since the first draft came over 12,000 commentaries have been registered and now it seems like the IEEE commity will need more time to go through these before the second draft of the 802.11n specification can be released. It has namely decided to postpone the second draft to January, 2007. After this it will take yet another year before the final specification will be set, which means that it will take quite some time before we will see any “real” 802.11n products on the market.
