Even if Nintendo hasn’t killed the myth of the couch potato gamer, the reputation of video game enthusiasts have at least improved, in a fitness kind of way. The motion sensitive controller transformed games from being just a sitting still experience to pure exercise in some cases. Nintendo has now officially announced the next step of improving the health of the video gamers, it has namely announced that it will launch Wii Fit just in time for the Christmas shopping. The plans for Wii Fit was announced earlier this year, but it is now nearing completion. The new game is shipped with a new kind of controller in the form of a pressure sensitive pad, which will make it possible for gamers to head a ball or practice ski jumping.

The pad can also be used for yoga or aerobics, and Nintendo believes that Wii Fit will be the next big sales success after games like Wii Sports, which lured a lot of people into trying out the new console.

“Nintendo Co Ltd said on Wednesday it would start selling its “Wii Fit” home fitness game in Japan in time for the critical year-end shopping season, sending its shares to a record high.”

We’re not sure what to believe, but we will just have to wait and see how Wii Fit will sell, but at least it further strengthens Wii’s position as the most innovative console of this generation.
