Wii has according to the latest sales figures continued to sell a lot more than the competition. According to NPD, 335,000 units have been sold during February, while Xbox 360 only reached 228,000 and Sony left far behind with 127,000 consoles sold. Sony still has its trump Playstation 2 which reached 295,000 sold consoles during February, but we’re very doubtful that this is how Sony wants it. In a not entirely unrelated piece of news, Nielsen//Netratings has posted information that there is a console in more than every third (37%) household with Internet in North America, 16% owns a portable game console and 71% of these gamers are actually married, believe it or not.
There is no doubt that gaming is becoming more and more accepted and considering the U.S. Library of Congress recently launched project, where they try to preserve the gaming culture and make sure to save the most influential and prominent games. Gaming will become an even bigger part of our society as time progresses. But then again, it’s an industry which is trumped only by the music industry.
