Winchip is a well known and established memory manufacturer among OEMs, but it has been rather uninterested in the retail part of the market, but at Computex it has revealed that this is the next goal of the company. It has unveiled both DDR2 and DDR3 modules during the event, but the most impressive was its DDR3-1600 modules that was using 7-8-8-15 timings, which is really impressive for DDR3. At the same time it also presented its very own memory cooling that is quite similar to products we’ve seen from Corsair and OCZ where you simply attach a panel with fans on top of the memory modules.
There’s no information about when and to what degree these modules will be available, but this is certainly a nice addition to a growing market. The established guys could use some fresh competition.
