Windows 7 has gotten a completely different reception than Microsoft’s criticized Windows Vista. After releasing the very promising Release Candidate of the next Windows generation Microsoft has also decided to stop all speculations surrounding the launch. It has officially announced that it will launch Windows 7 before the holiday shoppings.

“As part of today’s news, Microsoft Corp. announced that the company is anticipating that the next version of its client operating system, Windows 7, will be available to customers in time for the holiday shopping season.”

In the same press release it reveals that Windows Server 2008 will arrive within the same time frame. With this information at hand it looks like a launch in October/November, but at the same time there is always the possibility of pushing the launch closer to Christmas.

Microsoft looks to be prepared marketing wise as the Polish site CentrumXP.pl has acquired pictures of the retail packaging the operating system will be shipped in. With a design similar to the boxes used by Vista it looks like Windows 7 will be stylish both on the inside and the outside.
