Microsoft had some serious problems to get proper drivers for Windows Vista and not the least for graphics cards, both from ATI and NVIDIA. With Windows 7 most of the work has already been done, since the operating system use the same base as Vista, but now we see a completely different zest at both AMD and NVIDIA when it comes to supplying drivers for Microsoft’s new operating system. The two graphics card giants has released new drivers to go with the Microsoft’s Windows 7 RC that just arrived.

AMD will release the Catalyst 9.5 driver later this month, but already it has WHQL certified drivers for Windows 7 with Catalyst 9.4. The drivers support WDDM 1.1 and is available for both 32-bit and 64-bit Windows 7 at AMD’s website. Catalyst 9.4 supports all models of ATI Radeon HD 2000, HD 3000 and HD 4000 series.

NVIDIA has no intention of being worse and has released the ForceWare 185.85 driver for Windows 7. Just like Catalyst 9.4 the driver is WHQL certified by Microsoft and support both 32-bit and 64-bit versions of the new operating system. The new drivers supports GeForce 6, 7, 8, 9, 100 and 200 graphics cards. The driver can be found at NVIDIA’s website.
