Windows 7 leaked on to the peer-to-peer networks over a week ago, but it will become publicly available on May 5th. So far the final launch date has remained undisclosed, but evidently Microsoft has revealed the date to partners, one of them being Acer, who has revealed the date of the launch. Bobby Watkins at Acer UK had the following to say about Windows 7 and Acer’s handling of the new operating system;
“23rd October is the date the Windows 7 will be available. There is a 30 day upgrade time so that customers don’t wait to buy a new computer, so if you buy during that 30 day period, you’ll get a free upgrade to Windows 7”
Even if this information comes from a reliable source, the date can still be changed. Much can still happen in the development of Windows 7 and a possible launch date may very well be moved to a later day. Either it looks like Windows 7 might appear before the fourth quarter, which was previously believed.
