Windows 7 is already found on many enthusiasts’ PCs even though Microsoft’s new operating system is still only in the Release Candidate stage. But unlike the precursor Vista, Windows 7 is already a capable OS and yours truly have installed Windows 7 on many different computers with good results. Even if Microsoft has come a long way there are still some bugs to clear before it’s launch time.

Microsoft seem pleased with the development progress and has announced the launch date via its Windows Blog, October 22, 2009. On July 2nd the RTM version of Windows 7 will be finalized, Release To Manufacturing, is the version that will appear on the shelves in the shiny new packages.

The prices Microsoft will set are still a bit uncertain, but with six possible versions there is the possibility of a wide price plan. Unfortunately rumors are going around that Microsoft will charge quite a bit for its new operating system since it has grown so popular, but we would be surprised if they were substantially higher than when Windows Vista came along.
