Microsoft has revealed that Windows 7 operating system has been finalized Released To Manufacturing. Windows 7 has achieved RTM status and it is exactly build 7600 that previously was rumored to be the RTM version. The next step for Microsoft is to make RTM available for manufacturers and partners that will prepare Windows 7 system for the launch on October 22nd. One August 6 Microsoft partners and OEM builders will get to download Windows 7 RTM from MSDN or Microsoft Connect.
At the same time Microsoft will start shipping the first Windows 7 RTM discs to OEM customers in the days that follows, which enables them to tailor their own version of the operating system for shipping with their particular computers.
Windows 7 RTM will be made available to partners one after another depending on customer category and for beta testers with TechNet subscriptions the RTM version will be available for free download shortly.
Regular users who want a genuine copy of Windows 7 will have to wait until October 22nd when the product is officially unveiled.
