Microsoft announced earlier this year that its Windows 7 operating system would launch in 2010, which at the time sounded a bit early considering it took 5 years for Microsoft to follow up Windows XP with the launch of Vista. If the trend would continue, Windows 7 would not launch before 2011. But now it seems like we will get to play with Windows 7 next year already and even if we have been hearing rumors of this before it is first now that Microsoft had insinuated it. Microsoft’s director Doug Howe has even claimed that Windows 7 will be in the center of attention during the summer leave.
This means that Windows 7 could launch as early as late 2009, which is a lot earlier than expected. If Microsoft can stick to this plan it is certainly a big, welcomed and most of all positive surprise, but after the seemingly eternal delay of Windows Vista Microsoft should perhaps try to keep a low profile to avoid being eternally scarred by broken promises.
