Windows Vista will not only be, I.e. according to MS, a super-safe operating system, with a polished graphical user interface, but sport a lot of new things beneath the shiny exterior. Not te least for those who like to play 3D games, where epecially one of the news with Vista will make a huge difference compared to today’s PCs. It’s Microsoft’s DirectX10, the coming graphics API that has been reworked from the foundation and up. The fact that DirectX10 will only be launched for Windows Vista is a rather obvious sign for this, DX10 is simply dependant on Vista, just as Vista is dependant on DX10. Except for its effect on Vista’s 3D user interface Aero Glass DX10 will offer new possibilities for game developers and at Gamespot they’ve published an article about what will come.

Windows Vista and DirectX 10 looks to be a milestone in the PC game history where we will see new graphical effects and improved performance, if Microsoft is able to deliver everything it promises. According to Tim Sweeney from Epic (The Unreal series) DX10 based are on the way.

When we asked Tim when he thought we would see the first true DX10 games, ones that will take full advantage of DX10 hardware, he could only reply with a smile and a cryptic, “When will Windows Vista ship?”

Very interesting reading for those who wants to know more about Vista and its gaming features.
