Windows Vista has been selling fairy well despite the delays and the far from perfect launch with lacking drivers and teething problems. Despite the positive sales of Vista there still a lot to fix and China is probably one of the biggest problems Microsoft has. A new report namely says that despite a big advertising budget and numerous campaigns, Windows Vista has been an utter failure in China. Millions of dollars have been spent on the campaigns, which should attract at least a few buyers in a country with more than a billion people, but during the first two weeks Microsoft only managed to sell 244 copies of its new operating system.
A figure that should be rather frightening to Microsoft and at the same time shows the piracy problems China has. Windows Vista is selling really well on the streets, costing a mere buck a piece. We will have to wait and see what Microsoft will come up with to solve this, but to put a positive spin on things; it can’t get any worse than this.
