Windows Vista’s security functions haven’t been solely praised by the authorities and legal organisations. Certain of these has been afraid that Vista’s security would become a problem when hunting criminals as it would be hard to access information/evidence stored on a computer with Windows Vista. Great Britain went so far that it suggested adding a backdoor to Vista, with that the police would be able to use to gain access to protected parts of the operating system. Already then speculations whether a potential backdoor would become a target for hackers surfaced, something Microsoft seems to have realized. It has namely announced that it will not be adding any form of backdoor to Windows Vista. Source: CNET
