Windows Vista’s delay may affect Intel’s processor prices

0

As we recently reported Intel is planning on lowering the prices of its Pentium D processors during the third quarter 2006, but also the new Yonah processors is expected to become cheaper. The price cut of Core Duo/Core Solo was planned to happen on May 28, but after that Microsoft announced that Windows Vista will be delayed until January 2007 this may occur earlier than anticipated. The reason is that several analysts believe the delay of Vista might lower the demand for laptops and in the end postpone the high-selling season for laptops. Intel’s reply to this may very well be that it will lower its prices earlier than expected thus breathing new life into its mobile platform.
