Xbox 360 was the only one of the three tre next-gen video game consoles that chose to go with old tested methods when it came to the controller. The other two played shadow-games, Nintendo showed us nothing and Sony displayed a prototype also known as the cromed banana, which was was later exchanged for the good ol’ design with some nice tweaks, while Nintendo showed us something completely new. Now it seems that also Microsoft has realized that the controller can do more for the gaming experience than one might’ve thought from the start. It seems it has plans for a controller designed for FPS games, a genre that has, not including the Halo series, has been rather poor to be honest.
According to IGN it could be a trackball that will replace the right analog stick, which would then increase the sensitivity and thus the precision. We can only wait and see, but it seems that also Microsoft is trying to find new ways to improve the gaming experience through better controls.
