Many were hoping that Xbox 360 Elite would come with a new 65nm version of IBM’s PowerPC processor, but that wasn’t the case. It seems that we will have to wait even further for the new, smaller and more efficient version of the processor, but now it seems that Microsoft is planning a broad transition to 65nm technology. According to a report by Commercial Times (via DigiTimes) Microsoft is planning a 65nm version of the graphics processor of the video game console, Xenos, during the fall of 2007. TSMC will manufacture the new 65nm circuit and if Microsoft would swap both the CPU and the graphics processor to 65nm versions it should become one cool and on top of all quiet video game console.
Many are those who are longing but the problem is that you will have to buy a new console. Whether Microsoft will do a silent launch of the 65nm circuits or make a fresh launch remains to be seen.
