Cooling manufacturer Zalman has launched a new processor cooler for Intel’s coming Core i5 platform. Zalman CNPS10X Extreme is different from most other coolers presented for Intel’s new mid-range platform as it is quite beefy. Most Core i5 coolers we’ve seen have been with mid-range and restricted budget in mind with not exactly overwhelming specifications, but CNPS10X Extreme has a mix of copper and aluminum that makes it a bit different.

Zalman CNPS10X Extreme weighs no less than 920g and use five heatpipes for moving the heat off the processor up to the aluminum heatsink.

The cooler, measuring 135x100x160mm, has a temperature regulated 120mm fan with blue LEDs for flashy effects. The fan can also be controlled manually through an integrated fan controller sitting on top of the cooler, three automatic modes completed by one manual setting.

The cooler supports Core i7 as well and most other processors currently available. Zalman says it can handle loads up to 340W and comes with Zalman’s own ZM-STG2 cooling paste. Price and availability are pending.
