Zotac has managed to create a name in the niche for small yet powerful motherboards. By small we mean even smaller than micro-ATX, mainly mini-ITX, which has grown (pardon the pun) very popular lately. Zotac had several of these to show at CeBIT, but they mainly focused on NVIDIA’s new generation of Ion. It showed both dedicated Ion 2 graphics cards and a new nettop using NVIDIA’s latest technology.

Zotac ZBOX HD-ID11 is based on Intel’s Atom platform and the dual-core Atom D510 processor along with NVIDIA’s Ion 2 chip for offloading heavy burdens. The graphics circuit has 512MB dedicated memory and will enable ZBOX to play HD video and 7.1 channel surround sound flawlessly.

Zotac has made room for a 2.5″ harddrive inside the mini-PC and in a very slim format you can even attach the computer on the back of your monitor monitor/TV using a regular VESA mount. The price will be around $200.

Those looking to upgrade their stationary computer with Ion 2 power can use the discrete graphics card Zotac has developed. The performance is on par with GeForce G210 and the card should be an option for slim HTPC machines.
