A new graphic card, equipped with the interface that will replace AGP, is now closer to becoming reality. 3Dlabs announced new cards of it’s Wildcard line, that will use the PCI Express bus.
This technology offers higher bandwidth (up to 16 GB per second) and will be aimed, at first, at the video/image professional consumer market.
“Professional graphics performance is enhanced by balanced pipeline design, and PCI Express is enabling us to design VPUs that complement the enhanced system capabilities to raise the bar for workstation productivity,”
This was said by Neil Trevett, senior vice president of market development for 3Dlabs.
“We welcome the opportunity to work closely with Intel to ensure that PCI Express graphics and system availability is coordinated to facilitate a smooth industry transition to this exciting new interface standard.”
