Sony Vaio R Master seems to be the first PC system launched with Intel’s new Core 2 Quad processors and Sony has certainly not held back. Vaio R Master uses a Core 2 Quad Q6600 processor paired with, among others, a Blu-ray player, up to 3GB RAM and a maximal 3TB (!) of storage. The graphics card is a NVIDIA Quadro FX 1500 and it’s pretty obvious this is not your ordinary office PC. Vaio R Master is more of a workstation or an extreme Media Center. And if the hardware specifications hasn’t already told you so, the price certainly will.
Fully equipped with Sony’s own 24″ LCD monitor (VGC-RM900CPS) Sony Vaio R Master costs about 8200 USD. Vaio R Master seems to be the first system with Core 2 Quad, but there will certainly be more of these soon and then perhaps a bit cheaper.
