It with some bitterness I type this, because I just lost $5. Overclocker ozzimark has managed to push AMD’s 65 nm process and specifically the Athlon 64 X2 5000+ Black Edition past 4 GHz. Using dry ice for cooling and an aluminum tube he was able to validate a frequency of 4009.86 MHz. Getting those last few MHz proved to be the hardest part of all as getting to 3990 MHz proved to be relatively easy, but then it suddenly got a lot tougher. The DFI LanParty UT NF590 SLI-M2R/G is just like most other boards from DFI. It has tons of settings and can be tricky to work with, but when everything finally comes together, you’re able to break new ground.

The temperature was held at about -12 °C as it coldbugged at around -18 °C, so there’s really no need for him to bring out any heavier cooling. Unfortunately this is probably as far as these are going to go, but then again, a decent peltier and/or water cooling setup should be able to do quite nicely with one of these.
