Just as expected, AMD has now launched its new series of dual-core Athlon processors and the new BE-23xx series is designed for a specific audience. AMD has namely been working hard on reducing the power consumption of its new processors and the two models it has now launched, Athlon X2 BE-2350 and BE-2300, both have a TDP at 45W, which means that they consume less power and generate less heat than the current Athlon 64 X2 processors. Using this as a foundation, AMD has set its sight on the HTPC market, and other markets with similar requirements; low power consumption and especially low heat dissipation.

Both processors are based on the Brisbane core and as we’ve been able to tell you earlier, AMD has a new naming pattern for these energy efficient processors It will leave the “64” suffix and that is why the new processor are called Athlon X2 BE-23xx. The top model, BE-2350, is working at 2.1GHz while the sibling BE-2300 has to settle for 1.9GHz. Even if the performance isn’t the most thrilling we’ve seen it should be more than enough for the intended markets.

The price of the new processors make them quite appealing and even if the new models are still absent in some countries you should be able to count on a price around $80-90. A couple of reviews have already surfaced and some of them can be found below;
