At ZDNet they’ve had a chat with AMD’s Chief Technology Officer Phil Hester and the interview it has now published contains a lot of information and some real goodies. First of all, Hester put sit in black and white that AMD has had conversations with Apple about using AMD’s products and that Apple has shown interest in these, however there are no concrete plans for a cooperation today. But this strengthens the statement AMD VP Hector Ruiz made last week where he meant that Apple will sell systems with AMD processors sometime in the future. Hester also supplied ZDNet with details about AMD’s plans for integrated CPU and GPU solution where as AMD considers a CPU with an integrated GPU an important goal for the mobile market.
AMD is already working on such a solution that it hopes to present when it moves on to 45nm technology, sometime in 2008. In other words, we should see processors with integrated graphics circuits in just a few years, and both AMD and Intel seems to be eager to get their first.
