AMD has today decided to expand its Athlon 64 X2 series with a new flagship in the form of Athlon 64 X2 6000+. Athlon 64 X2 6000+ is the first retail processor with dual cores to reach 3.0GHz and this is despite that it’s based on the older 90nm technology. Whereas the single-core siblings Athlon 64 3500+ EE and 3800+ EE are both based on 65nm technology and comes with a TDP at 45W. This is a bit more than a third of the TDP of 6000+; 125W. All processors will be available today and cost [6000+, 3500+, 3800+]: $454, $88 and $93 respectively.
