The reason is simply the drastic price cuts AMD has been pushing. While AMD has been forced to lower the prices of its few series of single and dual-core processors Intel has been able to counter with its older 800 and 900 processor series. Which has been a lot softer on Intel than on AMD as these series is on the way out anyway. Supply is not stated to be a problem even though the evident lack of processors in stores that has been.
