R600 will be AMD’s answer to NVIDIA G80 and from a clear blue sky a “preview” of AMD/ATI’s new graphics card appeared a week ago. Except from specifications and benchmarks with R600, which not surprisingly performed very well, they also spoke of a launch date at the end of January. The content of the article and whoever may have written it is a big mystery and should be taken with huge truckload of salt, some tracks have even led back to AMD self, but now information about delays have appeared. The prototype circuit which it has developed is namely said to suffer from problems big enough to require a new production and now it seems, according to The Inquirer, that we should be able to expect the card at the end of February or at the start of March. Of this is correct we certainly hope the wait is well worth it.
