AquaMark 3 available

Few of you should have heard of the benchmark named AquaMark. It is indeed one of the toughest benchmarks out there, and it has now come to the third edition of the program, ready to test what the DirectX9 compatible graphics cards really can handle. And when it comes to testing performance, AquaMark is one of the most frequently used.

It comes in three different versions. One is free for download, one is for professional usage, and a third one is for commercial usage (which means that you are allowed to publish your benchmarking results, i.e. this is what we want). NordicHardware has not yet decided whether it’s worth buying, but has rather come to the conclusion that it’d be best to wait for a while and see how reliable and useful it actually is.

Tweaktown has taken the beta version for a test, and it seemed pleased with how the program worked, even if the results proved what many GeForce FX owners were rightfully dreading. As many other tests have shown, the GeForce FX series seems to have lousy DirectX9 performance. To witness this test with your own eyes, head over to TweakTown.

If you want the new nVidia drivers used here to get yourself better scores, but with a slight decrease in graphics quality, the new Detonator driver 51.75 can be found here.
